  • Longville Turtle Races on Wednesdays - The famous Longville Turtle Races have been enjoyed by all ages for the last 38 years. When the race announcer gives the signal, the racers put the turtle on the ground, place their hopes and dreams on it and exit the circle. The fastest winner and the slowpoke winner of each heat will receive a ribbon and "turtle bucks" and the right to compete in the grand race.

    • Tianna Country Club – 18 holes over 6550 yards with a par of 72.
    • Ridgewood Golf Course - 18-hole golf course, designed by Cal Bristol, 6563 yards for par of 72. Additional 27 holes and driving range.
    • Longbow Golf Club – 18 holes over 6536 yards with par of 72
    • Chippewa National Course at Wilderness Trail Golf & Village: 9-hole course 3120 yards, 36 par.
  • Summer Biking and Rollerblading and Winter Snowmobiling

    • BYOB (bike) or rent one in Hackensack and enjoy the great area paved or off-road trails!

    • Paul Bunyan State Recreation Trail - Minnesota’s longest paved recreation trail! 120-miles total (Brainerd to Bemidji) offering hiking, biking or rollerblading along its beautiful corridor. Every eight to ten miles along the way, expect to find a great northwoods community, offering up refreshments and more. North of Walker, on the unpaved portion are spectacular views of lakeshores, river crossings and even a large blue heron rookery.
    • Heartland Trail - One of state's premier recreational trails all year long...including winters, when it attracts snowmobilers with its phenomenal rides. The segment southwest of Walker has rugged lakes and forest scenery, perfect for a picnic or respite along the way, and offers connections to other trails and recreation areas, including the Shingobee Recreation Area
  • Deep Portage Conservation Reserve – Nature Programs The region's finest full service environmental education/outdoor recreation center. Minnesota's largest outdoor classroom with nearly ten square miles with hiking and skiing trails to enjoy, a large interpretive center with fun family educational programming available year round, climbing wall, and nature gift shop.
